Will Ferrell is having an excellent month. He's got his big summer movie, Land of the Lost, due out in a few weeks. He just hosted one of the best Saturday Night Live episodes of the season. Best of all, his one-man Broadway show from earlier this year, You're Welcome, America: A Final Night with George W. Bush has just been nominated for a Tony Award.
Ferrell's show is nominated in the category of Best Special Theatrical Event, where his major competition appears to be Liza Minelli. I was a little bit indifferent about the show -- it had some funny moments, but ultimately felt like piling on after the fact -- and I have a hard time believing it's going to win the Tony. It already feels dated, and I suspect the award will go to something a little more timeless. I, of course, know nothing about the Tonys and could be way, way off. I'm happy to see Ferrell get any recognition, particularly from legitimate sources.
