The 3rd Annual Rooftop Comedy Festival National College Comedy Competition is nearly underway. The tournament will kick off on March 28 when Temple University takes on Penn State at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and conclude with a matchup between University of Souther California vs. Loyola Marymount at the Hollywood Improv on April 13th. 32 universities will compete in total over the span of four weeks, and the "final four" funniest teams will face off at the Rooftop Comedy Festival, held June 10 - 13 in Aspen, Colorado. The National Student Finals will then take place as part of this year's TBS Presents A Very Funny Festival: Just for Laughs Chicago, taking place from June 15 - 19, 2010.
The competition pits comedians from colleges across the country against one another in a series of on-campus and online activities, including stand-up, creating "roast" videos taking shots at other competitors and coming up with "on the fly" one-liners. Fans can vote on their favorite videos and comedians at the Rooftop Comedy official site, and the winners of the competition will be crowned Funniest College Comedy Team and Funniest College Comedian in the U.S. during the Just for Laughs Chicago festival this June.
