Stand-up comedian and host of the You Made it Weird podcast Pete Holmes could be coming to late night TV, courtesy of Conan O'Brien.
Vulture is reporting that O'Brien is currently developing a half-hour late night talk show, hosted by Holmes, that would eventually be paired with Conan, O'Brien's own talk show currently airing on TBS. No other details are known right now, except that the pilot for the show is scheduled to shoot some time in August.
Those of us who are fans of Holmes can probably picture exactly what a talk show hosted by him would look like, but I'm not positive that will translate to the uninitiated. His style is loud, spastic and aggressively enthusiastic and silly. He's never hostile, but he has a big, big personality, and it's difficult to imagine him surrendering the spotlight to a guest for interview purposes. Even when he interviews fellow comics on You Made it Weird, the discussion is as much about him as it is about the guest. Whether or not the show will ever make it to air I can't say, but I sure hope it does. It will be fascinating to watch.
