Well, this just isn't fair.
News broke earlier this week that comedian, actress and political activist Janeane Garofalo has been married to Rob Cohen, producer on The Big Bang Theory, According to Jim and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, as well as more respectable fare like Funny or Die Presents) got married 20 years ago in Vegas as a joke and didn't realize that the marriage was legally binding. Yes, yes. This sounds like the premise for a hilarious romantic comedy. All that's missing is Garfaolo being pulled by a dog on roller skates.
The pair got married while they were working together on the great '90s sketch show The Ben Stiller Show, on which Garofalo was a cast member and Cohen was a writer. They shared the story that their marriage had just been legally dissolved while on stage at a Ben Stiller Show reunion during this year's New York Comedy Festival. Apparently, Cohen is now engaged to be married for real and his lawyer discovered that the writer was already married to Garofalo.
If I had known that Janeane Garofalo was willing to get married -- even as a goof -- for all these years, I could have thrown my hat in the ring a long time ago. I'm the perfect candidate if you want to marry someone and have no one know about it.
Call me, JG.
