This is the first child for Martin, 67, and Stringfield, 41, who also kept their marriage pretty private back in 2007. Nothing else is known about the baby right now -- the gender, the name, whether or not it approves of those Pink Panther and Cheaper by the Dozen movies.
It's weird how much of a big deal the media is making out of the fact that the baby was born "in secret," even though that's not true. Martin and Stringfield may not have hired a publicist to announce every aspect of their pregnancy, but that's not the same as keeping something a secret. It's called being a person. My wife and I had a baby last year, and just because it wasn't written about in People magazine doesn't mean we were keeping it a secret. Before you say it, I know what you're thinking -- I'm not Steve Martin. And you're right. I never would have appeared in Bringing Down the House.
We can all agree that Steve Martin is the best, so let's celebrate his happiness and applaud the fact that one more super cool kid just came into the world.
