Zach Braff, Melissa Joan Hart, James Franco, Veronica Mars. Now we can add Adam Carolla to the list of celebrities using crowdsourcing to fund a feature film project.
The website Bleeding Cool reports that Carolla is looking to raise $1 million to make Road Hard, a comedy feature about a comedian's struggles to get off the road. Should he successfully raise the money, he'll be reteaming with Kevin Hench, his writing partner on his previous movie The Hammer. Carolla and Hench will direct the movie together.
Between his years as host of The Man Show, his Lovelines radio show/podcast with Dr. Drew Pinsky and his incredibly successful Adam Carolla Podcast, there's no denying that Carolla has a huge fanbase. Whether or not those fans will pony up to see him write, direct and star in a feature film is another story entirely. The good news (depending on how you feel about this particular project) is that the budget for the film is low, making the Fund Anything campaign's goal seem reasonably attainable.
As of this writing, Carolla has raised about $250,000 of his $1 million goal, with just over 40 days left in the campaign. If you want to donate to the movie, you can do so here.
