Definition:
A sketch is a short comedy scene, typically performed by two or more actors. They may be performed live in a theater setting, such as at Second City in Chicago, or recorded for broadcast on TV, like The Kids in the Hall or Saturday Night Live -- probably the most famous sketch comedy show of all time.
A sketch will usually tell a self-contained story about two or more people, and can be either a parody of real events or based on an original concept.
Live sketch comedy is often improvised, whereas TV sketch comedy is scripted.
Also Known As: skit; scene
