Saturday Night Live's 35th season saw the dismissal of two cast members and the addition of two new females to the cast: Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate. Check out a rundown of the sketch comedy's 35th season in late night.
The 35th season premiere of Saturday Night Live (episode 1555) was hosted by "it" girl of the moment Megan Fox and featured the first appearance of new cast members Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate (who accidentally uttered the "f" word her first night on the air) and featured an endless number of sketches based on Megan Fox's hotness.
Ryan Reynolds hosted show 1556 but was relegated mostly to the background. Musical guest Lady GaGa appeared in several sketches, including one with surprise guest Madonna; actress Scarlett Johansson (married to host Reynolds) also appeared in a sketch.
Actress and director Drew Barrymore returned to host SNL for the sixth time in an episode (1557) featuring sketches like "Cooking Al Fresco," "Celebrity Ghost Stories" and yet another "Gilly" sketch (ugh).
300 star Gerard Butler came to host for the first time for show 1558, which included a funny "Beauty and the Beast" sketch, the 300-inspired "Spartans" sketch and the inspired "What Up With That?".
Country/pop superstar Taylor Swift pulled double duty for show 1559, acting as both host and musical guest. She turned out to be a pleasant surprise in an episode that settled largely for familiarity and repeat sketches and characters.
Madmen star January Jones hosted the show (episode 1560) for the first time, backed by musical guest the Black Eyed Peas. The episode marked a low point in Season 35, with Jones feeling stiff and nervous for most of the show.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt performed hosting duties for episode 1561, backed by musical guest Dave Matthews Band. Levitt showed a lot of intensity in a show that relied heavily on repeat sketches. Former Vice-President Al Gore and Mindy Kaling (of The Office) both made appearances.
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively hosted the not-bad show 1562, also featuring musical guest Rihanna (who appeared in the show's digital short, "Shy Ronnie").
Twilight and New Moon heartthrob Taylor Lautner hosted episode 1563, with musical guest Bon Jovi. The show was a clear comedown from the success of the previous week's episode.
Actor James Franco returned to host episode 1564, Saturday Night Live's annual holiday show and the final episode of the decade. The show featured a number of repeat favorites, including another installment of "What Up With That?" and another Vincent Price holiday special. Mike Tyson and Jack McBrayer both made special appearances.
