In the age of reality TV and hour-long dramas, there's not a lot of room for comedians on the new fall schedule. Here's a breakdown of the new shows that star or feature comedians:
- Gary Unmarried - Jay Mohr stars on this CBS sitcom about a divorced dad trying to keep his life together. Premieres September 24 at 8:30 p.m.
- Do Not Disturb - Reno 911!'s Niecy Nash moves over to FOX for this sitcom about the goings on at a fancy New York City hotel. Jerry O'Connell co-stars in what has to be his eighth new series this decade. Premieres September 10 at 9:30 p.m.
- Kath and Kim - Former SNL cast member Molly Shannon and Selma Blair star in this remake of the popular Australian sitcom about a daughter forced to move back in with her mom. Premieres at 8:30 p.m. on October 9 as part of NBC's Thursday night comedy block.
- SNL Weekend Update Thursday - Slated for a three-episode run leading up to the November elections, this SNL spin-off will essentially be a half-hour installment of the "Weekend Update" segment on Saturday nights. Premieres October 9 at 9:30 p.m.
- Surviving Suburbia - Bob Saget tries to get lightning to strike a third time with this CW sitcom about a middle-aged dad raising a family in the suburbs. It's supposed to be "darker" than Saget's previous sitcom, Full House. Premieres November 2 at 7:30 p.m.
- Little Britain USA - The successful UK sketch comedy Little Britain gets its own US incarnation on HBO, the network that brought us The Kids in the Hall and Mr. Show. Premieres September 28 at 10:30 p.m.
- Dancing With the Stars - The massively successful reality dance show returns with stand-up comedian Jeffrey Ross - the "Roastmaster General" - as one of the scheduled competitors. Returns September 22 at 8:00 p.m.
